How to Support a Friend That Has Lost a Pet

Losing a pet can be just as bad a losing a loved one. When it comes to friends or family members, it can be difficult to know what the right thing to do or say is to console the people who are grieving. This can be especially challenging for someone who may not have ever shared a close bond with their pet. Even thought you might have your own pet or have had pets in the past, everybody grieves differently and the person you’re trying to console may not elicit the response you’re looking for even though you’re only trying to do your best to help them.

At such times, it is best to stick with the simple tried and tested methods of consoling them. Losing a pet is a really devastating feeling and as such it takes a lot out of a person in terms of mental stability and a general will to talk to people so talking to them may seem difficult but try to do your best and maintain some healthy boundaries to help them cope and to let them know that you’re there for them.

You could however send them a card or some well-crafter pet cremation jewelry from Geturns or perhaps send some flowers or a beautiful keepsake urn or pet cremation urn that they can have in their room to memorialize their pet by. At the end of the day try to be more sensitive towards their feelings and everything should be fine.
